Zenelli Carbon ZR Reduced Gimbal Head
The stability, articulation and flexibility of a gimbal head are necessary for those of us who use super-telephoto lenses. It is essential to be able to move, pan and tilt your camera equipment quickly and effortlessly to capture any action.
The Zenelli Carbon ZR reduced gimbal head is the lightest reduced gimbal head ever manufactured. It is made from carbon fiber, CNC aluminium and magnesium alloy and weighs in at only 0.65 Kg (1.43 lb). It has been built to optimise weight and size without foregoing strength and functionality. The maximum load for this gimbal head is 45 kgs (99lb) which means that it can accommodate up to an 800mm lens. The product dimensions are 194 x 184 x 80 mm (7.6 x 7.2 x 3.1 in). The Zenelli Carbon ZR has 360° range of rotation on the panoramic axis and 110° on the horizontal axis. Both the pan and tilt axis have separate locks with tension controls which have been ergonomically designed. The clamp is compatible with most Arca-type dovetail plates. Zenelli has plates available if you do not have your own. Look for the Zenelli QPS, QP1 and QP2 options.
Other features of the Zenelli Carbon ZR reduced gimbal head include vibration absorption, balanced weight to the pan axis and a soft easy fluid motion. It also sports a UV resistant transparent gloss finish.
If you are looking for a light, compact gimbal head when travelling to remote areas, have weight restrictions on small aircraft or you are carrying your gear over long distances then this is a solution for you. One of the advantages of the ZR is that it is modular. Add either the QLZ or QLX and your ZR becomes a ZC. The ZC offers the extra functionality of a quick release lever, a save lock lever and a pan bar connection.
After using this product I would have to say that not only is it appealing to the eye, it is also impeccably well designed and manufactured. I’ve tried many gimbal heads over the years but I can truly say that this product is an excellent choice not only for its light weight and superior build but for its sturdiness, rigidity, compactness and ease of use. When using expensive camera equipment you need peace of mind that your gimbal head is up to the job and this product certainly is.
In conclusion I would have to say that the Zenelli Carbon ZR reduced gimbal head is one of the best gimbal heads I have used and a work of art to boot!
